Bereits vor einigen Wochen kündigte Ex-Ring of Honor Official Gabe Sapolsky an, dass er ab sofort mit Dragon Gate USA - einem Ableger der Kult-Promotion "Dragon Gate" aus Japan - den US-Wrestling Markt erobern wollen würde. Der erste Event wurde für den 25. Juli 2009 festgesetzt und findet in der "Arena" (ehemalige "New Alhambra Arena" / "ECW Arena") in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA statt. Unter dem Namen "Open The Historic Gate" messen sich die Stars aus Japan mit zahlreichen bekannten Gesichtern der US-Independent Wrestling Szene. Angemerkt sei an dieser Stelle, dass bereits vor einigen Wochen eine offizielle Zusammenarbeit zwischen Dragon Gate USA und Mike Quackenbush's CHIKARA bekannt gegeben wurde.

Wow tolle Matchcard für so 'ne Company mit 2 ehemailgen WWE Wrestlern im Special Attraction Match, Ken Doane war doch Kenny Dykstra oder? Und von Fire Ant & Soldier Ant, BxB Hulk und Mike Quackenbush hab ich auch schon was gutes gehört. Kann man das irgendwo ansehen?
 
Die Matchcard hört sich echt hamma an!:D
Für ne eher ,,kleine,, Company. ;)
Von den meisten Entertainern hab ich schon mal was gehört, aber nicht sehr viel.^^
Hoffentlich wird der Event klasse...
 
Wow, hört sich ja echt gut an. Für seine eine kleine Liga ist das doch schonmal ein Anfang. Villeicht wird die Liga ja auch immer größer, wär zumindest mal cool. Das einzigste was mich stört ist, das es auch dort kein Hardcore bzw. Stipulations Matches gibt, aber sonst echt cool!

Wer das Booking von Gabe Sapolsky und die ROH-Matches zu seiner Zeit kennt, der weiss, dass Gabe Matches mit Special Stipulations nur dann einsetzt, wenn es wirklich passt und sinnvoll ist.
Aber ich bin mir sicher, dass es trotzdem auch ausserhalb des Ringes zur Sache gehen wird und Matches mit Special Stipulations wird es bestimmt auch noch geben, wenn die ersten kleinen Fehden am Laufen sind.
 
Ja also ich muss sagen hört sich ja wirklich sehr gut an.
Für so eine kleine Liga, wie es die meisten vorschreiber schon sagten, wirklich gute Matches.
Die Wrestler, kenne ich nur zum teil, aber die sind wirklich größten teils sehr gut, wie ich finde.

Also ich bin mal gespannt ob man in der Zukunft noch mehr über diese Liga hört ;)
 
Ähm... Wer hat denn eigentlich gesagt, dass Dragon Gate USA sooo klein ist? Die Jungs haben es auf die Reihe bekommen noch vor der ersten Show einen PPV Deal fix zu machen.

Des Weiteren steht Gabe Sapolsky für Qualität, gute Stories und großartige Shows. Über Dragon Gate muss ich eigentlich auch nicht viele Worte verlieren.
 
Die Matchcard hört sich wirklich genial an. Zuvor kannte ich diese Company überhaupt nicht und nun wird man hier direkt mit dieser genialen Matchcard "geflasht"? Klingt echt sehr viel versprechend und ich bin fest davon überzeugt, dass man in Zukunft mehr über diese "Liga" hören bzw. erfahren wird.
 
Ich denke, die Liga wird noch von sich hören lassen. So wie die Matchcard bisher aussieht, könnte die Show echt erstklassig werden. Bisher kannte ich die Promotion noch nicht. Mal sehen, wie sie sich so international verbreitet.

The Fray
Lince Dorado gewann gegen Cheech, Johnny Gargano, Cloudy, Chris Jones, Louis Linden, Aaron Arbo & Andy Harper via Shooting Star Press.

- Dawn Marie begrüßte anschließend vor einer grandiosen Kulisse die Fans.

YAMATO gewann gegen BxB Hulk via Sit-Out Tombstone in einem starken Opener, der die Fans gut anheizte.

Special Challenge Match
2 Cold Scorpio gewann gegen Ken Doane via Tumbleweed. Doane zeigte setzte zuvor einen Top Rope Leg Drop in den Sand, wodurch Scorpio einen Moonsault zeigen konnte, der allerdings von Doane geblockt wurde. Dennoch gelang es 2 Cold Scorpio anschließend den Sack zu zu machen.

CHIKARA 8 Man Tag Team Showcase
Mike Quackenbush, Jigsaw, Fire Ant & Soldier Ant gewannen gegen Hallowicked, Amasis, Gran Akuma & Icarus via Pinfall von Jigsaw an Icarus in einem guten Match.

- Nach dem Match forderte Mike Quackenbush die Jungs von Dragon Gate zu einem Multi-Man Match auf: CHIKARA vs. Dragon Gate. YAMATO kam danach in die Halle um Quackenbush zu attackieren. Jigsaw und Gran Akuma machten den Save, doch dann turnte Akuma gegen Quackenbush. Für die nächste Show in Chicago kann man also mit Mike Quackenbush & Jigsaw vs. YAMATO & Gran Akuma rechnen.

Dragon Kid gewann gegen Masato Yoshino via Dragonrana. Dragon Kid bot nach dem Match Yoshino einen Handshake an, doch dieser verweigerte diesen.

- In der Pause wurde angekündigt, dass die nächste Show von Dragon Gate USA in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA im November stattfinden würde. Der Name der Show lautet dann "Open the Freedom Gate". Als Hauptattraktion gilt ein One Night Only Tournament, in welchem der "Open the Freedom Gate" - Championship Titel ausgefochten werden soll. Dieser Gürtel wird dann als eigener Gürtel von Dragon Gate USA fungieren.

Tag Team Match
The Young Bucks (Nick & Matt Jackson) gewannen gegen CIMA & Susumu Yokosuka via Pin von Nick Jackson an Yokosuka. Bis zu diesem Zeitpunkt handelte es sich dabei um das Match of the Night.

Non-Title Match
Naruki Doi (c) gewann gegen Shingo in einem großartigen Match mit vielen Nearfalls.
 
Cool die Young Bucks haben gewonnen!

Beim Main Event kann ich mir denken das es klasse war.. Wurden von diesem Event irgendwelche aufzeichnungen gemacht?
 
Ich kenne die meisten davon nicht wirklich, aber hört sich spannend an. Aber nur 950 Zuschauer? Naja, naja ... ;)

Du hast nicht wirklich Ahnung vom US-Independent Wrestling, oder...? Knapp 1.000 Zuschauer sind absolut in Ordnung und für den Einstand ein ordentlicher Wert.

My Perspective Of DGUSA's Debut Show

Now that I've had a few days for things to settle in after last Saturday's Dragon Gate USA debut I feel like writing a blog. I'm not going to write "thank you" a million times or hype up how great everything was since you've read this kind of stuff countless times. I spent the last two days on a mini-vacation (so if I haven't responded to your email, text or message please be patient) and now a few "moments" from Saturday stand out to me. I'll write about them now.

Just waking up on Saturday was a moment. Looking back, I have to admit that for my final year or two at my old job I would wake up with a pit in my stomach on show day. I would just want the show to be over. I would just want the weekend to be over. I would just want to go home. I would just want the editing process to be over. Last Saturday I woke up with a pit, but it was completely different. It was fueled by anticipation, excitement and the desire for everything to go smoothly. I wasn't even concerned with the card, I have a lot of different responsibilities now. The most important of which was making sure the 800 plus crowd got into the building and into their seats hassle free. I wanted this to be a comfortable, smoothly run night. Except for the heat (and there is nothing we can do about that) I believe we accomplished that goal.

I won't bore you with all the pre-show details. After documenting my activity constantly on Twitter last week (www.Twitter.com/DragonGateUSA) I realized that a lot of this stuff really isn't really that exciting. Let's get to the fun stuff. Here are the moments from "Open The Historic Gate" that I'll always remember:

-I stood by the hard camera as the opening video played. I found my fist uncontrollably pumping into the air like I was at a Slayer show. I look to my side and see that CIMA is doing the same. We celebrate the birth of this new promotion together. He's calling his wife on his cellphone in Japan so she can hear the crowd reaction. The atmosphere and enthusiasm of the fans is giving us an incredible high.

-The high quickly becomes extreme tension in less than a second's time. My chest literally tightens with fear as I see BxB Hulk's feet heading right towards Daizee Haze's head. Fortunately, he misses her by inches avoiding disaster. I have to say that if he connected, and it would have destroyed Haze, I would have taken it as a sign that I wasn't meant to do this anymore and I would have looked for another line of work on Monday. Haze and Kelly deserve lots of credit for nailing the dance routine and really adding to the beginning of the show.

-I settle in behind the big screen in the back to watch BxB Hulk and YAMATO start the promotion off right. Towards the finish Scorpio turns to me and says in a serious voice: "We have to follow that?"

I laugh back at him thinking he's joking. His stoic facial expression doesn't change. He's not. I tell Scorpio this is his house and his match will be fine. He and Doane deliver a good match. Scorpio is a pro all the way through. Doane was a pleasure to work with and brought a great attitude to the locker room. I wouldn't hesitate to book either again.

-I go back up to hard camera position to watch the CHIKARA eight man tag. CIMA and Susumu Yokosuka are standing a few feet in front of me. They start popping for the moves almost as much as the fans. CIMA loves Akuma's moonsault.

-The top rope rana spot in Dragon Kid vs. Yoshino is incredible and might be my favorite spot of the night.

-At intermission I decide to walk around the crowd and see what the vibe is like. It was so tremendous not just seeing a lot of faces from recent years, but so many former Club ECW members. I'm really having fun at this point.

-It was such a great feeling watching the crowd explode as The Young Bucks cement themselves as DGUSA stars by pinning CIMA and Yokosuka. In my personal opinion I have to give this match a slight edge as the best of the night. Then the Bucks nail the postmatch promo. I'm really looking forward to working with them in the future.

-I stop by the merch table to watch the main event. The slap on the turnbuckle and the sweat flying is my lasting memory of a great main event. You'll see what I mean.

As the final pinfall is made I look down at my watch and see it is 11:03. We started at 8:00 and took a 25 minute intermission. I'm thrilled with how the six match format worked.

After all this my favorite part of the night was the crowd. You were respectful of the wrestlers and each other, but still loud and enthusiastic. We promoted DGUSA as "OUR Wrestlng Haven" and you made it exactly that. The result was a night that no one in attendance from the wrestlers to the fans to the staff to me will ever forget. The best part is that this is only the beginning. See you in Chicago. I look forward to sweating through another suit then.

Am 06. September 2009, zwei Tage nach der Erstausstrahlung der ersten Veranstaltung "on Pay Per View", wird Dragon Gate USA einmal mehr die Zelte aufschlagen: Dieses Mal gastiert man in Chicago, Illinois, USA. Auf dem Plan stehen beispielsweise das Debüt von "American Dragon" Bryan Danielson oder Davey Richards.

Eine erste Match-Card für eben jenen Event wurde bereits veröffentlicht. Drei Matches sind als Teil dieser Card bis dato bekannt. Anbei folgt das dazugehörigen Listing:

Eigentlich habe ich in letzter Zeit nicht mehr viel mit Wrestling am Hut (abgesehen von TNA, da einfach schon Tradition), dennoch wäre grade das Projekt von Mr. Sapolsky ein triftiger Grund, wieder mal einen Blick auf die Independent/Puroresu Szene zu werfen.

Die Auswahl der Wrestler, die Stimmung (die das veröffentlichte Video andeutet), das Booking... irgendwie passt einfach alles. Genau das, was ich gebraucht habe.

Sieht ja bis jetzt schon mal super aus. Schön auch, dass die bekannten Gesichter von ROH wie Davey Richards und Bryan Danielson jetzt auch bei Gabe antreten.
 
Brian Kendrick ist auch dabei? Das finde ich ja jetzt mal cool. Ich finde eh das Dragon Gate schon eine richtig gute Liga ist. Bin mal gespannt wie die Show wird. Und ich finde es wie al_sb... schon sagte gut, das Bryan Danielson usw. antreten, das macht dieses Event noch besser.
 
Kendrick ist nicht nur angekündigt sondern wird auch im Roster gelistet. Das bedeutet das es mehr als nur ein One Night Only Auftritt wird. Sehr geile Sache
 
sehr schön das kendrick direkt bei einer liga untergekommen ist, und ist ja auch keine die unbekannt ist, zumindest "Dragon Gate" dürfte bekannt sein ^^
 
Was heisst bei einer Liga untergekommen? Er tritt ja nicht nur dort an, sondern auch bei PWG z.B. und auch ROH wird wohl dann nur eine Frage der Zeit sein (wahrscheinlich wenn die vertraglich vereinbarte Sperre für TV-Shows abgelaufen ist).
